The principle of the Trappists beers is that the beers are manufactured in the community of the abbey. The life of the monks is shared between the prayer, the reading and work. Thus, the monks manufacture beer, cheese, meat products, bread and even cultivate fruit and vegetables. Thanks to this work, the monks guarantee their subsistence. They must also devote their benefit to works of social matter.
